NEW SUMMER OF 2012: What animal has no bones, is related to a shark and planning on moving into the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium this summer? The stingray! Stingray Bay will open this summer, offering visitors a state-of-the-art facility to get up-close-and-personal with these stealthy creatures.

One of the Zoo's most entertaining regions is the new Polar Frontier exhibit. Meet Aurora and Anana--the Zoo's twin polar bears--and watch them dive to depths of 16 ft. of water or swim over your head through a half-tunnel of acrylic viewing glass.  The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium was made famous by director emeritus “Jungle Jack” Hanna’s memorable appearances on the David Letterman Show and Good Morning America. The Zoo rests on hundreds of acres of naturalistic wildlife habitats and includes the Zoombezi Bay Waterpark and Safari Golf Club.

The Zoo features nine world regions representing over 700 species and is one of only three facilities outside of Florida to exhibit and rehabilitate the endangered West Indian manatee.

Discover the Australia Region by walking through the outdoor kangaroo yard and hand-feeding the colorful birds in the lorikeet garden.  Go on a simulated forest night hike where nocturnal tree kangaroos, dog-faced bats, kiwi, clouded leopards and other animals are at home. Asia Quest recreates a visit to China--with Amur Tigers, Red Pandas and a Pheasant Aviary.
