Olentangy Indian Caverns

Take an adventure back in time to explore the historic caverns and passageways once used by the Wyandot Indians

Formed millions of years ago by the tremendous force of an underground river cutting through solid limestone rock, the Olentangy Indian Caverns today offer an exciting excursion into ancient Indian lore with a maze of beautiful winding passages and spacious underground rooms. There is evidence that the Wyandotte Indians used these caverns as a haven from the weather and from their enemies, the Delaware Indians. One of the large rooms contains "Council Rock", used by the Wyandotte's for tribal ceremonies.

Guided-tours are available for an experience you won't forget. You will follow the Olentangy Indian Caverns’ trained tour-guides through the caverns stopping at special formations for information and exciting stories. Each tour is around 40 minutes and is sure to be fun and educational for the entire family. Tours leave from the Indian Museum and take you more than 100 feet underground. Learn about frontier life, go gem mining, scale a 24-ft. climbing wall or play miniature golf. Self-guided tours are during spring and fall. There are guided tours every 20-minutes during the summer.
